Integration system

The integration system includes three levels of three interconnected tanks. This system holds a water volume of 3.6 m3 for the culture of organisms. The water in each tank is discharged via a drainage system on the bottom. Solid matter from the water can be used as feed for detritivore organisms.

This integration system is used to advance the integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA). It allows a selective investigation of nutrient recycling inside the system, which later on, can be calculated for systems of bigger scale. The aim of the IMTA is the increase of the nutrient efficiency in relation to the total production.
